    Description

    When it was introduced in 1957, the Yashica Mat incorporated several features new to the Yashica TLR line which became standard in subsequent models. These advances included crank wind film advance with shutter tensioning and control wheels for setting aperture and shutter speed. This example is an early version (s/n 70611) with gold inserts in the control wheels and a gold Y logo on the top. It has a four element Lumaxar 80mm f 3.5 taking lens and a Luxamar f 3.2 viewing lens. The shutter is a Copal MXV with speeds 1 to 1/500 plus B. This is a totally mechanical camera with manual control of all functions. All controls operate smoothly.  This camera's cosmetics are excellent with clean intact leatherette and the metal and painted surfaces are unmarked. This camera is functional, and some examples of photos taken in May, 2021 are included in the photos accompanying this posting.
