Description
Seals are part of the Pinniped family and can be found all over the world. There are 33 known species, 19 of which are seals. With their streamlined bodies, they have 4 limbs of which their winged feet have evolved into a flippers. Their hearing and eyesight has adapted over the years for both air and under the water. They have a layer of fat or blubber under their skin that enables them to swim in very cold water. The males are called bulls, the females are called cows, and the babies are called pups. They are semi-aquatic mammals, Otaridae (eared seals), and Phocidae (earless - true seals), and feed mostly on fish and invertebrates, however Leopard seals are know to eat vertebrates such as penguins and other seals. They are a highly intelligent mammals, used in a variety of conservation programs, such as Sea World. Although Seals may appear gentle and adorable, they are wild animals and will bite or attack humans to protect themselves or their offspring. Throughout history the meat, blubber, and furs of Seals have been used by the indigenous people of the Arctic.
This highly collectible plate is entitled 'Baby Seals", and is from artist Mike Jackson. "It is the first issue in the Beauty of Polar Wildlife by Artist Mike Jackson. Issued by The Collector's Treasury in an edition strictly limited to a maximum of 150 firing days". Bradex Number: 26-C63-1-1. The year of this Heirloom Quality collectible plate is 1990. The Collection Number is: E6512. It is made of fine bone china, and from Royal Grafton, Made in England, Est. 1876.
The plate features two of the most adorable baby seals around! They are snuggled up on a stunning white/blue ice landscape, and are gazing at you with warm, curious, beautiful black eyes. You can almost see their whiskers twitching!! They would certainly cause any frozen heart to melt!! This item includes a special free gift - baby seals!! I am including a gorgeous figurine featuring a duo of Pinnipeds to accompany their brothers painted so superbly on the plate. The little figurine is made of hard-cast resin with an engraved stamp on the side of one of the seals, but, alas, I am unable to read it. It's possible it could be a Sandicast, or UDC figurine. The duo makes a great pairing with the wonderful collectible plate and would look terrific displayed together - as in the pictures I have provided. This combination of seal plate and seal figurine would make a great gift for the aquatic marine life lover, or would make a great addition for your collectible plate set. Please purchase early as this one won't last! And remember, Christmas will be coming at us like a freight train again, very soon :).

NOTE TO POTENTIAL BUYERS
:
All items are described to the best of my ability. Should you have any problems with the item(s) you purchase, please let me know - I have no problem with returns, I like for everyone to be happy!! I've already had one buyer, who I told several times that I would buy the item back if he was unhappy. He still acted childish (and wouldn't send the item back either, so I assume he really did like it). He wasn't having a very good day (and I suspect he wasn't having a very good life either). So, any problems, just let me know - I'm a pet sitter and pet sitters are the nicest people, because we get to play with critters all day :). I recently received Neutral Feedback from someone who either did not know how to read, or chose to ignore the details of the product, which stated clearly the size of the item they were considering buying. Please read the descriptions - I spend a great deal of time putting as much USEFUL information in my listings as possible, and measurements are always stated clearly.
My listings are not cloned - they are as individual as the items themselves. Read people
